Learn about Water Safety While Enjoying America's National Past Time

IOWA CITY – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Coralville Lake will be sponsoring a Water Safety Night at the Cedar Rapids Kernels Ball Park on June 25th at 6:35 P.M. Baseball enthusiast are encouraged to come out and cheer on the Kernel baseball team and learn more about water safety. Bobber, the Water Safety Dog will be joining Mr. Shucks at the ballpark to throw out the first pitch.
The first 250 people who enter the stadium will receive a backpack filled with various water safety items.

  • Floating key chain
  • Fisherman hand towel
  • Mood cup
  • Window clings
  • Bobber trading cards

An informational table will be located in the concourse providing recreational information and water safety material.

During each inning, one lucky person will win a prize package valued at over $100. Prizes include free camping at USACE Coralville Lake campgrounds, life jacket from Mid River Marina, free camping and gift card from Bobbers Marina, gift card from Scheels All Sport, and a pontoon boat rental from Coralville Lake Marina.

Between innings, Bobber the Water Safety Dog will be available to meet and greet fans for photos with families and children. He will be giving away flying rings, temporary tattoos for the kids, and a variety of other water safety related items.

Be sure to stay for the whole game and then enjoy the fireworks display. So come out and do not miss out on the fun!
