Veteran’s Trail Dedication Ceremony

IOWA CITY, Iowa –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Coralville Lake will be hosting the 2017 Veteran’s Trail Dedication Ceremony on Memorial Day, May 29, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. The ceremony will take place at the East Overlook Picnic Area located on the east end of the Coralville Dam.

The public is invited to help honor and recognize these Johnson County Veterans.

Honorees for this year’s dedication are:

Floyd D. Smith, Andrew B. Letarte, Bradley J. Storck, Brandon J. Burgus, Keith J. Hodapp, David L. Schapira and Jacob E. Cannon.

These seven veterans are all residents of Johnson County and will be recognized for their service during wartime. All veterans being recognized have been awarded a Purple Heart or higher award during war.

The Veteran’s Trail is a barrier free trail. Various features along the trail are named for the 193 local veterans who have been honored on the trail since its dedication in 1989.
