ROCK ISLAND, Illinois. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Rock Island District is hosting an additional public meeting for the Great Lakes and Mississippi River Interbasin Study (GLMRIS) Brandon Road Draft Report on Dec. 5 from 1-4 p.m. at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers New Orleans District headquarters office. The meeting will be held in the District Assembly Room inside the District office at 7400 Leake Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana, 70118.
This meeting has been scheduled as part of an extension to Study’s public comment period which had been set to close Nov. 16 but will now run through Dec. 8.
During the meeting, Corps staff will provide a presentation on the tentatively selected plan that includes structural and nonstructural options and technologies for preventing upstream transfer of aquatic nuisance species, such as Asian carp, at Brandon Road Lock and Dam on the Illinois Waterway.
An oral comment period will follow the presentation for anyone wishing to voice opinions and concerns. Written comments will also be accepted.
