Saylorville Lake and Lake Red Rock Operating Under Newly Updated Water Control Plans

Published April 29, 2019

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District has updated the Des Moines River Basin Master Regulation Manual and, as a result, now operates Saylorville Lake and Lake Red Rock under newly updated Water Control Plans.

The revised plans provide operational parameters defining how, and when, water is stored and released from each reservoir. Also included are a schedule of releases, levels at which conservation pools are to be maintained during non-flood or drought conditions, and downstream water level constraints.

Information included in the newly updated plans was presented during several public meetings held at multiple locations along the Des Moines and Mississippi rivers in July and August 2018.
