September 26th is National Public Lands Day and the US Army Corps of Engineers at Saylorville Lake is hosting a cleanup project beginning at 11AM, ending at 3PM.  Join more than 175,000 volunteers around the nation to beautify the land, improve your fitness and enjoy the outdoors.  The annual event is hosted by NEEF (National Environmental Education Foundation) and sponsored by Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc.  Participants who would like to help clean up the environment can sign up at the Saylorville Lake Visitor Center.  Please wear long pants, long sleeves, and closed toed shoes.  Trash bags and cloth gloves will be provided.  Volunteers or groups who work for a total of 3 hours will receive a camping pass for one free night at a Corps of Engineers managed campground at Saylorville Lake (pass may not be used for reservations).   Volunteers will also receive a fee-free coupon.  The fee-free coupon provides the volunteer one day of free entry to any participating federal public land agency, no matter the agency.  Each fee-free coupon is good for one day of entrance fees or day use fees until Saturday, September 24, 2016.  At some public lands, this can include accompanying passengers in a car.  The coupons cannot be used for parking fees, camping, tours or concessions.  For more information on National Public Lands Day visit http://www.publiclandsday.org/
