Hunting at Coralville Lake

Hunting, fishing, and trapping are permitted in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws except in areas designated as “No Hunting” by the District Engineer. For specific game law information, consult the current Iowa Hunting and Trapping Regulations published by the Department of Natural Resources.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineer’s Title 36 Code of Federal Regulations applies to all project lands and waters owned by the USACE.

Permit and Limited Hunting Zone Information:
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has established three permit only hunting areas within Coralville Lake. These areas are limited to bow-hunting, trapping, and waterfowl hunting. These areas are delineated as Zone 1 (Dam Complex), Zone 2 (Sugar Bottom), and Zone 3 (Sandy Beach). Hunters that wish to apply for a permit must submit an application. Applicants will be chosen by random drawing. Applications can be submitted from August 1 through September 1 to the following address:
