  • Corps of Engineers hosts Upper Mississippi River open house on Motor Vessel Mississippi

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Mississippi River Commission on board the Motor Vessel (M/V) Mississippi, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ largest diesel towboat and flagship to the Commission, is inspecting Corps of Engineers’ projects along the Upper Mississippi River, August 12-16. The visit is part of the Commission’s annual Low Water Inspection trip.
  • Free Weekday Tours of Locks and Dam # 15

    Rock Island, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces they will be offering to the public free weekday tours of Locks and Dam #15. These special tours will be conducted on Mondays and Fridays from 11:00-12:00 (weather permitting). These tours will begin on July 22nd and run through August 23rd.
  • Crafters Needed For Shady Creek Craft Show

    Muscatine, IA - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project is looking for crafters to participate in the 24th Annual Camper's Outdoor Craft Show to be held at the Shady Creek Recreation Area picnic shelter on Saturday, August 17, 2013 from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm.
  • Locks and Dam # 15 Tours Cancelled July 21

    Rock Island, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces that tours of Locks and Dam #15 will be cancelled on July 21st. The Mississippi River Visitor Center will still remain open during this time.
  • Wood Whittling Program at Fisherman's Corner Campground

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project is inviting guests to come experience a campground program on Wood Whittling. Join Berry Williams as he shares his knowledge of whittling using little more than a pocket knife and a piece of wood. Visitors are invited to attend this program on Saturday, July 20th at 7:00pm

    Rock Island, IL-The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces that tours of Locks and Dam #15 will be cancelled on July 14th. The Mississippi River Visitor Center will still remain open during this time.
  • Water Safety Program to be Presented at Fisherman's Corner Campground

    Hampton, IL-The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project is inviting guests to come experience a campground program on Water Safety. Join Corps Park Ranger Drew Vlazny as he goes over some safety tips when recreating on or near the water.
  • IL DNR BOATING SAFETY EDUCATION CLASS

    Quincy, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Mississippi River Project announces that the Quincy Park Rangers and The Eagles Nest will co-sponsor an Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IL DNR) Boating Safety Education Class.

    Thomson, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces the partial reopening of the Thomson Causeway Recreation Area at 12:00 pm noon on Friday July 5, 2013. The recreation area had been closed due to flooding.

    Potosi, WI - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces the reopening of the Grant River Recreation Area at 4 pm on July 3, 2013.
