  • Clark’s Ferry Recreation Area Boat Ramp Repairs

    Montpelier, IA - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be completing repairs to the Clark’s Ferry Recreation Area boat ramp courtesy loading dock beginning on September 23, 2015.

  • New Visitor Center Hours

    Rock Island, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mississippi River Project announces that the Visitor Center located at Locks and Dam 15 will be closed on Sundays and Mondays until Memorial Day beginning Sunday, September 20, 2015.
  • Rock Island District waives fees on National Public Lands Day, Sept. 26

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Rock Island District announces it will waive day use fees normally charged at boat launch ramps and swimming beaches at its recreation areas in recognition of National Public Lands Day on Sept. 26.
  • Swimming Not Recommended at Coralville Beaches

    Due to a high level of bacteria found in the water at Coralville Lake, swimming is NOT recommended at Sandy Beach or either of the Sugar Bottom beaches. Levels at West Overlook were at safe levels.
  • Labor Day Weekend Tours of Locks and Dam #15

    Rock Island, Ill. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces they will be offering free tours of Locks and Dam #15 on Saturday, Sunday and Monday this Labor Day Holiday Weekend. These tours will be offered at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and will each last one hour. These will be the last public Locks and Dam tours for the summer season. Visitors on these guided tours will learn about the history of Locks and Dam #15, the Government Bridge and how they both work while walking around the lock.
  • Corps of Engineers Rock Island District Supports Every Kid in a Park

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, is participating in the Every Kid in a Park program, a presidential initiative that was announced by the Obama Administration September 2. The program is part of the president’s commitment to protect our nation’s unique outdoor spaces and ensure that every American has the opportunity to visit and enjoy them.
  • Saylorville Lake “No Motorized Vessel Zone Lifts 1 September”

    Johnston, Iowa - During much of 2015 there has been a new boating policy on Saylorville Lake. This policy calls for a seasonal; “No Motorized Vessel Zone” North of the Mile Long Bridge, in the very shallow upper reaches of the reservoir, locally identified as the “mud flats” from April 1st to August 31st during periods of near normal conservation pools (below 840’ NGVD). The No Motorized vessel zone will be lifted 1 September 2015 through 31 March 2016.
  • Coralville Lake Adopt-A-Trail Program

    The Coralville Lake Adopt-A-Trail Program welcomes your interest! School and youth groups, scout troops, church, community and service organizations, businesses, families, individuals or groups of individuals can adopt a trail. Activities of the Coralville Lake Adopt-A-Trail Program may include, partnering with Natural Resource Specialists and Park Ranger, litter removal, planting and/or maintenance trees, shrubs, wildflowers and native grasse, beautification project, trail maintenance, reporting trail issues and/or assisting with special events.
